Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)

In 2012, President Obama enacted DACA to prevent law enforcement from deporting undocumented immigrants who arrived in the United States as minors.

To address the long-term residence of millions of unauthorized immigrants, President Obama’s executive order known as DACA protected those who arrived as minors and had lived in the United States since June 15, 2007. DACA allowed these individuals to not be deported and gave them a work permit.
