2020 Election Turnout
The 2020 presidential election saw one of the highest voter turnouts in modern American history, with roughly 2/3 of eligible voters casting a ballot.
Even though the 2020 election occurred in a global pandemic and many states were still in lockdown, it saw one of the highest voter turnouts in modern American history. Around 66 percent of all eligible voters cast their ballots in the presidential election, seven percent higher than turnout in 2016. Significant contributing factors included the introduction of universal mail-in voting in some states, expanded early voting in most states, and efforts to increase voter registration in battleground states.
