Leans Left Bias
While President Biden has promised to take action to reduce greenhouse emissions, he has not addressed any form of plan to target agriculture. The food system is responsible for 10% of all U.S. emissions. Taking action like banning red meat, reducing fertilizer use, or using agriculture as a carbon sink is important in reducing emissions. However, taking these actions may be very political or partisan and may not bode well with farmers or conservatives.
Discussion Questions
- Do you think taking actions like banning red meat is too extreme?
- Why do you think some farmers are hesitant to address agriculture to fix climate change, especially after so many hard-hitting natural disasters?
