Neutral Bias
The USDA explains how climate change and global food security are robust issues. While we used to focus only on how it affects crops, they stress it is important to protect the farms and how produce is stored and made available to use. They explain that climate change has two major effects globally. Food security on agricultural production globally is at risk, which will reduce the amount of food available and increase prices. Second, the food system elements become more vulnerable to climate with radical factors like temperature, rain, and sea-level rising, which impacts storage and ports.
Discussion Questions
- Did you realize how comprehensive of an issue global food security is?
- Do you live in an area that relies heavily on agriculture? Have you seen firsthand the effects of natural disasters or climate change interfering with crop production?
